FBI RAIDS MARYLAND OFFICE OF GOP CONSULTING GROUP

- Staff and wire reports

The FBI on Thursday searched the offices of a Republican political consulting group based in Annapolis, Md., and confiscated computer files and documents tied to direct mail and fundraising practices, The Washington

Post and Baltimore Sun reported Thursday.

The Strategic Campaign Group was sued in 2014 on allegations of fraudulent fundraising, according to the Post. The firm also has ties to Scott Mackenzie, treasurer for almost 30 political groups, many of which have been scrutinized for alleged misleading of donors on how funds will be spent, according to the Washington-based Center for Responsive Politics.
