Kathy Griffin went too far, even for liberals

- LETTERS LETTERS@USATODAY.COM

I believe Kathy Griffin was operating well

within her rights of “free speech” when she did a photo shoot with a “decapitated” head of President Trump.

While I’m not a fan of Trump, I believe Griffin still needs to be held accountable for her actions. She has always danced on the line of inappropriate, often times even stomping on it. This time, Griffin jumped way over the lines of low class and tastelessness.

While I don’t believe Griffin meant to incite violence, she very well could have given someone the fuel to further imagine it. I’m glad CNN held her accountable as one of its representatives and cut ties.

Just like the men who have been fired from prominent news positions for unacceptable behavior, I agree that Griffin had to have be held to a similar standard.

Griffin has a right to her opinions, for sure. She even has a right to express them. But actions have consequences, and I believe her actions this time are over the edge. Apologetic or not. Kelli Van Pinxteren Landson, S.C.

I find little wrong with Griffin’s expression of

a desire for relief from the plague of Trumpism that has descended upon our nation.

Right now, the U.S. is the laughing stock of the international community with all of our historic European allies distancing themselves from us. Historically, I believe this is the most disastrous presidency since the inception of this great nation. Trump is a friend of oligarchs and admirer of despots.

Trump’s presidency has had such a profound effect on me that I will stand in the way of my young daughter ever having a relationship with anyone from a family who supported Trump.

In the future, a “T” for Trump should be worn by those who supported him, with the ignominy that they deserve.

It’s not about respecting the presidency, it’s about defending us from a tyrant who could destroy us all! George Rankin Alpine, Texas
