MAYFIELD REACHES PLEA DEAL
Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield reached a plea deal with the Fayetteville (Ark.) District Court resulting in $300 in fines for three misdemeanor charges — pleading guilty to public intoxication, disorderly conduct and fleeing, according to the Fayetteville prosecutor’s office. Mayfield pleaded not guilty in April before accepting a plea bargain June 14; the details were not released until Monday. Mayfield, who is also required to pay $160 in court costs and $483.20 in restitution, won’t be prosecuted for a resisting arrest charge as a result of the plea deal. Dashcam footage released to the public showed Mayfield being tackled by police after running from the scene. Last week, new Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley announced sanctions for the Heisman Trophy finalist as further punishment for his February arrest, although he won’t miss any games in the 2017 season for the Sooners.
