Q Is Arya going to die this season on Game of Thrones?

A I can’t tell you anything for sure (and wouldn’t spoil it even if I could) but based on the series’ history I don’t think you’re wrong to be worried about her.

Thrones is really interested in Jon and Dany, and if anyone was going to make it to the very last episode, I’d put my money on them. Cersei and Jaime are aware of how weak a position they are in and their presence does nothing to serve Jon’s and Dany’s stories. They are an obstruction. It depends on where the show takes Arya. In the premiere, she said she’s going to King’s Landing to murder Cersei. She could die in the attempt. If she succeeds, she could still be in danger. If she fails but lives, she will likely be lost. It’s impossible to predict, but I wouldn’t get too attached.

Q What are your thoughts on The Bold Type on Freeform?

A The Bold Type is one of the more surprising series I’ve watched this summer. It follows three young women, played by Katie Stevens, Aisha Dee and Meghann Fahy, who work at a women’s magazine that seems a lot like Cosmopolitan, and it takes inspiration from the life of former Cosmo editor in chief Joanna Coles. The show isn’t perfect, and it feels like a fantasy at times (they wear chic fashions despite their low salaries), but it succeeds in telling empowering feminist stories. (It’s like The Devil Wears

Prada, if Meryl Streep’s character was a warm, thoughtful mentor.) It’s one of the easier, sunnier series on the air right now.

Q Were there any Emmy nominations that you were really happy about?

A Yes! I may have had problems with the majority of the picks, but there were several nominations I thought were well-deserved. I was excited that

Atlanta was nominated for acting, directing, writing and best comedy. The FX series was one of my favorite new shows this past season. I also was very pleased to see that Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern and Shailene Woodley of Big Little

Lies were nominated for lead or supporting actress in a limited series. I’m really interested to see what happens in all the limitedseries categories, where the HBO show is going up against strong contenders Feud (FX), Fargo (FX) and The Night Of (HBO). It should be one of the more exciting categories when the ceremony airs in September.
