ELLIOTT MIGHT PLAY SOME SNAPS SATURDAY
Ezekiel Elliott is likely to get a few preseason snaps before his six-game suspension is scheduled to go into effect. The Dallas Cowboys are poised to play last year’s NFL rushing champion Saturday against the Oakland Raiders. Elliott’s appeal of his ban under the NFL’s personal conduct policy, for alleged domestic violence against a former girlfriend, is slated for Tuesday. It’s possible his suspension, which is set to begin Sept. 2, could be reduced or vacated. He could also challenge it legally.
In his first live action since last year’s season finale, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton completed both of his passes for 21 yards and a touchdown at the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday. Newton had surgery in March to repair a partially torn rotator cuff in his right, throwing shoulder.
