Uber’s hack is the least concerning matter

- LETTERS LETTERS@USATODAY.COM

The fact that Uber was hacked shouldn’t be shocking. What’s truly astounding is that millions of consumers would voluntarily give up access to the information stored on their phones for the “privilege” of patronizing a business. Imagine if you call to order a pizza only to be told that you first must provide a list of phone numbers and emails for all the people you know. No one would agree to this. Then, why do we do it for Uber, Lyft and other companies that have the arrogance to demand insight into our personal lives, which has nothing to do with the services provided?

If you leave your front door unlocked, would you be shocked if you’re robbed?
