- From staff and wire reports

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan

Shazier will remain hospitalized and have additional evaluation for a spine injury he suffered Monday night at the Cincinnati Bengals, doctors said in a statement Tuesday. Shazier is not expected to need surgery, according to team general manager Kevin Colbert.

“It was painful to get on that plane last night,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said at a news conference. “We realize and understand he’s in really good hands and is getting expert medical care. He also challenged us to move on.”

Eli Manning will be the Giants’ starting quarterback for Sunday’s home game against the Dallas Cowboys, a source confirmed to NorthJersey.com. With interim coach Steve Spagnuolo being promoted from defensive coordinator for the Giants’ final four games, the belief in the aftermath of co-owner and team president John Mara’s news conference Monday was that Manning would be back as the starter this week.
