Oprah Winfrey’s speech opened my eyes

-

After hearing Oprah Winfrey speak at the Golden Globes on Sunday, I realized that the only mantra for Democrats — or any forward-thinking political party — should be: We are one. Winfrey’s inclusiveness of men and women in the fight against sexual harassment on all levels was strong and inspiring. This is just one issue facing our country today that has recently exploded.

Before solving any of the complex problems America faces, we have to recognize that we are a nation filled with a diverse population enduring fast-paced changes. Before we settle on one issue, another comes up.

We need leadership passing legislation that works for all people, not just a few at the top or, for that matter, the bottom.

I envision the next presidential election being led by a party that can truly say “we are one,” showing the world that we have risen above our dark side of history and we’ve captured the best of us.

As a country, we seem to have fallen backwards to the sharp, demeaning words coming from President Trump and the unnerving support he has from Republicans, demonstrating a backlash to the forward, uplifting thinking of President Obama.

Oprah’s speech opened my eyes to a brighter future. Whether she runs, or just contributes her thoughts of inclusion or shares her story, she can provide a steadfast way for our country to climb up once again. Oprah’s words should be one of many encompassing one message: We are one!

Yeah, I’m sure it was so hard for Oprah Winfrey to give a speech in front of a few hundred supporters — all who are desperate for their next President Obama.

The left loses its mind over anyone who can deliver a good speech. Why don’t they just pick the next TED X speaker as their leader.
