Sounds like Michael Cohen made up his mind

-

One of the biggest questions in President Donald Trump world is whether Michael Cohen, the president’s longtime lawyer and personal fixer, will flip on Trump and cooperate with federal investigators in New York and special counsel Robert Mueller. It’s looking more and more like the answer is yes.

Despite Trump’s tweets to the contrary, Cohen is in trouble, and his only way out might be giving evidence against the president and his family.

As Assistant U.S. Attorney Tom McKay pointed out in court, Cohen “has more attorneys of his own than clients.” That’s a pretty good sign that he’s in trouble. Cohen has been at the center of Trump’s orbit for so long, he has also been at the center of many Trump scandals — that’s bad for Cohen and worse for Trump. Cohen orchestrated the Stormy Daniels hush money payment, might have known about the Trump campaign’s dealing with Russia, and was at the center of the Trump Organization’s efforts to develop Trump- branded property in Moscow.

Prosecutors start at the fringes and flip people to hook bigger and bigger fish. If Mueller is looking at Cohen, that means he’s getting pretty close to the Trump family and business. If Trump thinks that Cohen will protect him out of a sense of loyalty, he might want to check Cohen’s interview with George Stephanopoulos for where Cohen’s loyalty actually lies: “To be crystal clear: My wife, my daughter and my son, and this country have my first loyalty.”

We can’t be sure what will come next, but it sure sounds like Cohen has made up his mind.

Special counsel Mueller has already secured guilty pleas from former national security adviser Michael Flynn, Trump campaign deputy chairman Rick Gates and Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos. Don’t be surprised if Michael Cohen is the next domino to fall. Jordan Libowitz Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington
