Olympic cross country skiing gold medalist Kikkan Randall, 35, announcing in an Instagram post Wednesday that she recently was diagnosed with breast cancer. Randall and Jessie Diggins made history in Pyeongchang this year by becoming the first American female cross country skiers to win an Olympic medal, in the team sprint freestyle. Randall said in a tweet the prognosis was good after the cancer was detected early. She began her first round of chemotherapy Monday.
