RETAIL SALES GAIN A WEAK 0.1 PERCENT IN SEPTEMBER

U.S. consumer spending edged up 0.1 percent in September, a disappoint­ing performanc­e brought down by retail sales, which fell 0.1 percent. September saw the biggest drop in spending at restaurant­s and bars in nearly two years, CNBC said. Rebounding auto sales (0.8 percent) were the bright spot of the month.
