VERMONT Barre:

A new cemetery monument commemorates the 1918 Spanish flu that killed about 175 people in Barre in a matter of weeks and up to 100 million worldwide over its nearly three-year pandemic. Brian Zecchinelli commissioned the monument in Hope Cemetery as a tribute to his grandfather, Germinio, an immigrant granite cutter who died in the pandemic at age 35.
