SOUTH CAROLINA Greenville:
Cathy Lagerman was en route to the Shriners Hospital for Children with her therapy dog, Annie, when a truck slammed into her from behind. The 105-pound Newfoundland was launched into the front seat, dislocating her hip, and was unable to visit hospitalized children for three months. To promote seat belt safety, Hillcrest Animal Hospital offered seat belts at cost to pet owners last month. Lagerman says she always uses a seat belt and harness to protect Annie in the car now.
