MANAGERS OF THE YEAR
Atlanta’s Brian Snitker won the National League Manager of the Year award as the club’s rebuild came to fruition ahead of schedule. The Braves won 90 games, an 18-game improvement on 2017, and reached the postseason for the first time since 2013, running away with the NL East down the stretch. On the heels of a surprising 97-win season, Oakland Athletics skipper Bob Melvin was named American League Manager of the Year. The Athletics won just 75 games in 2017 and finished last in their division but surged to a postseason berth this year. Melvin also won the award in 2007 with the Diamondbacks and in 2012 with the Athletics.
