Greenville: Flame, the orange-and-white feline who gained national fame as the Belmont firehouse cat, is making the news again. He got stuck in a 12-inch concrete storm drain that runs about 50 feet beneath the department’s parking lot. Accustomed to emergency rescues, the firefighters jumped into action. They pulled off the drain covers, went in the hole and got him out. While Flame was soaking wet, he was otherwise safe and sound. Flame wandered into the firehouse about three years ago, tiny and starving. Before long, he was the resident cat, providing companionship, entertainment and therapy after difficult runs.
