Sports-themed ideas for those on your list

- Scott Gleeson, Jesse Yomtov and AJ Neuharth-Keusch

The holiday season is upon us, and while some people do their shopping months in advance, other people (most people) end up cutting it oh-so-close. This list is for those people. To celebrate the most wonderful time of the year, USA TODAY takes a look at 10 unique sports gifts for everyone in your life — from pets to bookworms.

For the workaholic

Stressed at work? A little basketball break never hurt anybody. This desktop basketball hoop lets you sink buckets whenever you want. Just don’t let your boss see — he or she might want to join in. (Available at Etsy)

For the bookworm

“Quarterback: Inside the most important position in the National Football League,” by New York Times bestselling author John Feinstein, explores the lives of five quarterbacks — Alex Smith, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Joe Flacco, Andrew Luck and Doug Williams — and takes readers inside their experiences. Feinstein also takes on NFL owners in this behind-the-scenes book.

For pets

Who’s a good boy? If it’s your dog — or even your cat — doesn’t it deserve a gift? Take your pet’s fake (or real) fandom to the next level with a large pet nap cap. It’s a dog bed designed as backward hat, customized with a favorite team.

For the world traveler

Let’s face it: A player jersey is a bit boring. If your globe-trotting friend wants to represent his or her team in, say, Paris, this Hawaiian-style shirt featuring an NFL team logo would definitely turn heads. (And we’re sure the French would not mock this shirt.)

For the gardener

For a serious gardener looking to protect the tomatoes, how about a toughlooking little gnome dressed in team gear? This menacing troll could scare off deer and rabbits — after all, what animal wants to tangle with a Nick Sabanapproved Alabama gnome?

For the golfer

Even if you can’t quote every line from the movie, these “Caddyshack” golf socks are a must. Whether you’re on the links or in the office, they’re sure to strike up a conversation. (Via Stance Socks)

For the fitness junkie

Tom Brady’s TB12 Training Method package offers a vibrating pliability roller. With four vibration sequences, this foundational tool enhances your flexibility before and after (football or yoga) workouts as you work to lengthen and soften your muscles for Tom Bradyesque strength. (TB12 Sports)

For the baby

It’s never too early to teach a child about NBA legends. So even if the baby in your life is more of a LeBron James fan, this Michael Jordan “Air Baby” onesie — with sizes ranging from newborn through 8T — makes the perfect outfit for a baby baller. (Available at NabbyDooby on Etsy)

For the baker

Take baking cookies to a whole new level with this LeBron James cookie cutter. More of a Kobe fan? Don’t worry. You can request a custom order, too.

For the NFL superfan

Real NFL fans need to show everyone how serious they are about their team, and there’s no better way to do that than all snuggled up. Perfect for the couch or a tailgate, this blanket with sleeves is great for any football-lover on your list. (Available at The Northwest Company)
