Congo’s questionable election result spurs no major protests

- From staff and wire reports

Congo appeared ready to achieve its first peaceful transfer of power after the surprise victory Thursday of opposition candidate Felix Tshisekedi, despite signs that a rival opposition leader won in a landslide.

There were no major protests in the capital and limited violence elsewhere. Tshisekedi’s win would end President Joseph Kabila’s turbulent rule.
