Trump flip-flops on the Electoral College
President Donald Trump is now defending the Electoral College on Twitter after he previously complained about the constitutional mechanism.
Of course Trump now defends the Electoral College; it’s the only reason he is in the position he is in today. Russ Smith
Can you say landslide? If you want to win, get out the vote. The Electoral College only levels the playing field. It wasn’t the Electoral College that defeated Hillary Clinton; it was the 1 in 10 supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who then voted for Trump. Democrats have done this to themselves many times over my lifetime. They can’t manage to get clear consensus for the Democratic candidate. Republicans back their man, right or wrong. Just like they are doing now. Kelly Ware
Trump jumps on whatever bandwagon that suits him at the time. He used to be a Democrat, now he’s a Republican. He used to be pro-choice, now he’s prolife. Trump was totally against the Electoral College until it got him elected. This man has no spine. Does and says whatever he has to, to get his way. Michelle Brown
This happens almost every presidential election. The losing side wants to abolish the Electoral College. But this mechanism has given all the states a say in the election. Glenis Marocco
So Trump says doing away with the Electoral College will restrict candidates to only campaign in the biggest states. But doesn’t the Electoral College restrict them just the same? Restricting candidates only to the states with the highest number of electoral votes. Trump’s argument is invalid. Courtney Sanchez
We need the Electoral College because every state deserves a voice in the presidential election.
