Pelosi calls on Trump to take down tweet of Omar video

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, DCalif., announced Sunday that she took steps to ensure the safety of Rep. Ilhan Omar after President Donald Trump’s retweet of a video that contained a partial quote from a speech in which the Minnesota Democrat described the 9/11 terrorist attacks as “some people did something.”

Pelosi called on Trump to take down the video. Soon after her public request, the video disappeared from Trump’s twitter feed.

The White House said that the president has a duty to highlight Omar’s history of making comments that others find offensive and that he wished no “ill will” upon the first-term lawmaker.
