-

According to population estimates, the Dallas-Fort Worth area led American cities in new residents from 2017 to 2018.

U.S. Census Bureau numbers show that the two cities, along with Arlington in between, grew by nearly 131,700 residents. The region, also known as the Metroplex, has gained more than a million residents since 2010.

The Houston area also saw an influx over the past decade, when Houston, The Woodlands and Sugar Land gained more than 1 million people.

The Dallas and Houston areas are the fourth and fifth most populous metropolitan areas, respectively, behind New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.
