MNG SCALES BACK MOVE TO CONTROL GANNETT BOARD

MNG Enterprises Inc., a hedge fundowned company, has scaled back its effort to seize control of the board of directors of Gannett, which owns USA TODAY and more than 100 local media properties. MNG said it is withdrawing three of its six nominees to the board. Gannett repeatedly has said that MNG’s bid in January wasn’t credible.
