Homa didn’t mind missing ‘Thrones’

- Andy Nesbitt For The Win USA TODAY Network

Max Homa picked up his first PGA Tour win as the 28-year-old won the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte by three strokes.

If you’ve never heard of Homa, you’re probably not alone as he’s struggled for much of his career. Which makes Sunday’s win all the more inspiring.

Homa recently talked about what kept him pushing through a streak of missing 15 of 17 cuts, how he’d shoot a “bazillion” on Thursday and then go to the range and then shoot a “bazillion” on Friday and missed the cut.

But he never gave up. He kept grinding every day, and now he has his first win and his life is forever changed.

Even if it cost him the chance to see Sunday night’s “Game of Thrones” episode as it premiered.

Homa, whose Twitter account @maxhoma23 is very personable and real, also had fun with this after his win: I just realized I missed Game of Thrones tonight. Plz don’t ruin it for me, but if u do I honestly don’t care cuz I just won and life couldn’t be better #TeamArya

And the @NoLayingUp podcast’s Twitter account posted a link to its Episode 170 in which Homa talked about battling through his struggles: In case you needed a rooting interest today, here’s Max Homa with one of the greatest 4 minutes in our podcast history. Missed 15 of 17 cuts in 2017, but kept saying “today’s the day.”
