HIGHLIGHT: TENNESSEE

-

Nashville: Along with classic country songs like “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” there’s a legendary tale millions associate with George Jones. Once, during a terrible bout of binge drinking, Jones says he was left alone in his house with no booze. To stop him from driving to the liquor store, his wife hid all his car keys. “But she forgot about the lawn mower,” Jones wrote in his autobiography, “I Lived to Tell It All.” Jones cleaned up his act for good in 1999, but the lawn mower legend lives on. Now, it’s been immortalized in a mural by local artist Shawn Catz on the side of Colonial Liquors, where Jones was once a frequent customer.
