2 dead, 7 hurt in South Carolina bar shooting

Two people were killed and seven injured early Sunday when a gunman opened fire in a rural South Carolina bar, authoritie­s said.

Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee said it happened at Mac’s Lounge, a bar and music venue in Hartsville, a town of 7,600 in Darlington County.

Hardee provided few details, saying the South Carolina Law Enforcemen­t

Division was processing the scene. The fate of the shooter was not immediatel­y revealed. Hartsville spokespers­on Lauren Baker told wbtw.com that no arrests had been made.

At least four of the injured were being treated at local hospitals, Baker said.

The bar is less than a mile from Coker University, a liberal arts school with about 1,200 students.

Hartsville is about 25 miles northwest of Florence and about 80 miles south of Charlotte, N.C.
