WEATHER

-

A storm system will affect the middle of the nation today. A large zone of drenching rain is forecast to stretch from Nebraska to Minnesota, northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

While the rain can be heavy enough to lead to localized flooding, it will be largely beneficial as much of this zone has been abnormally dry, and some places have been dealing with brush fires. Showers will extend farther south to western Kansas and farther east from Lake Erie to the Chesapeake and Delaware bays.

Rain and mountain snow will fall on Washington state.
