FASTLY SAYS SOFTWARE BUG TRIGGERED GLOBAL OUTAGE
Fastly says a software bug activated by a customer update was responsible for a global internet outage taking down several websites on Tuesday. In a statement posted on Fastly’s website by Nick Rockwell, the cloud company’s senior vice president of engineering and infrastructure, Fastly deployed updated software on May 12 introducing a bug. On Tuesday, Fastly said a customer pushed an update to settings activating the bug, which then led to causing 85% of the company’s network to return errors, Rockwell said.
