Randy Betts
Human resources specialist, retail manager Age: 37
When the coronavirus reached Massachusetts in early 2020, Randy Betts was one of the first people wearing a face mask before there was even a mandate to do so.
Betts contracted COVID-19 in late June 2020 despite the safeguards he took. After a serious bout with pneumonia, two stints on a ventilator, several surgeries, a pulmonary hemorrhage and multiple blood clots, Betts, 37, succumbed to the coronavirus in mid-August 2020.
The native of Brockton, who earned an associate degree from Quincy College in business management, spent years in retail as a manager for Claire’s, Tween Brands, American Eagle Outfitters and Bath & Body Works before joining Target’s human resources team as an executive team lead in September 2019.
Friends and family remembered Betts as a humorous, generous man with a bubbly personality, whose smile could light up the room and whose personality or words could put others at ease.
