Louise Knight
Volunteer, devoted church member Age: 93
Louise Knight was a fiercely independent Mainer.
That’s how her daughter, Bonnie Loiseau, proudly describes her mother, who lost her life to COVID-19 on Jan. 4, 2021. Knight was 93.
Knight was generous “to a fault,” Loiseau said. A smiler. A practical joker. She was a volunteer who was involved in local sports and Scouting throughout the childhoods of Loiseau and her brother, Bruce. She joined camping clubs and was involved with the Shriners and the Eastern Star chapter of the Masonic Lodge. Knight’s late husband, Harold, and their family meant everything to her.
“That is what her life was,” Loiseau said. “She loved having family and friends.”
Knight also was a dedicated churchgoer. During the winter of 2020, her church, North Parish Congregational, began tying white ribbons to its fence. Each ribbon represented one Mainer who had died of COVID-19. Among the hundreds of white ribbons, a single pink one stood out. That one was for Knight.
