Musk sets relaunch date for Twitter Blue, lays off moderators
After Twitter rolled out its new paid verification system, chaos ensued as fake verified accounts flooded the platform. Accounts with Twitter Blue check marks impersonated public figures such as President Joe Biden and consumer brands such as Pepsi and Eli Lilly. Twitter suspended many of the parody accounts, and owner Elon Musk said Wednesday Twitter Blue will be reworked and then relaunched Nov. 29. Earlier in the week, Musk gutted teams that battle misinformation and hate speech, laying off an unreported number of outsourced moderators over the weekend.
