Voters to pick between Walker, Warnock in Georgia Senate runoff

Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock of Georgia will try to fend off Republican challenger Herschel Walker in Tuesday’s runoff, the last major undecided campaign of the 2022 midterms. The runoff was triggered after neither candidate got more than 50% of the vote in Georgia’s general election Nov. 8. If Warnock survives, it would mean a 51-seat majority for President Joe Biden’s party instead of the current 50-50 split between the two parties. Because of Vice President Kamala Harris’ ability to cast tiebreaking votes, a win by Walker wouldn’t be enough to deliver a Senate majority to Republicans, but it would leave no margin of error for Biden and would give more leverage to more moderate Democrats.
