Human Rights Day focuses on impact of UN’s decree of rights
Human Rights Day is Saturday, and the theme is “Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All.” The U.N. is using the day as a jumping-off point to promote next year’s 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Adopted by the U.N. in 1948, the declaration sought to cement basic rights for people worldwide. The U.N. suggests people mark Human Rights Day by sharing parts of the declaration that resonate with them, studying the document’s “legacy, relevance and activism” or adding their profile photo on social media to a frame that says “I Stand Up for Human Rights.”
