Hi-Liner Boys

Hosting the Huskies in a double-header against Wahpeton, the Valley City High School boys’ basketball team accepted the first home Hi-Liner defeat of the season.

The game started out slow and fairly uneventful, with a score of 5-12 Huskies, after seven minutes of playing. The Hi-Liners seemed to struggle defensively as well as offensively in the duration of the first half.

By half-time, the score was up to 23- 41, with the Huskies still in the lead. During half-time, it was announced that the Hi-Liner booster club received a $500,000 donation from Essentia Health.

Late in the second half, the Hi-Liner boys picked up the defense, only letting Wahpeton score nineteen more points. It wasn’t enough though, and the Varsity boys took a tough loss with a final score of 6045.

Jared Eggermont, a Junior at VCHS, took the free-throw line a total of thirteen times, more than any other player in the game. Eggermont reflects on the loss, saying “Our energy was good throughout the game, our shots just weren’t falling in the first half which we struggled to bounce back from.”

The Hi-Liner boys and girls play at home again on Friday, December 13th, in a double-header against Lisbon. The Varsity boys play first 5:45 p.m., and the girls at 7:30 p.m..
