Grandma’s Kitchen

One of my favorite Christmas memories as a child and young adult was cooking with my grandmother, Esther Olson. Her kitchen always smelled so wonderful and the cookie jar was always full.

With the holiday season upon us, I have noticed cheer in the air, with extra smiles we pass one another on the street— a feeling of Christmas spirit.

I wanted to share some of my grandma’s “kitchen magic” with all of you by printing a recipe from our hometown Valley City Our Saviors Lutheran Church (ALCW) Centennial Cookbook, 1882-1982, recipe book.

Each day, we will be printing a yummy Christmas recipe from the book for you to share with your family i and friends if you wish.
