Hi-Liner Boys and Girls Claim Victory Over Broncos

The Hi-Liners hosted the Lisbon Broncos on Friday, December 13 in the Hi-Liner Activity Center. The Hi-Liners accepted celebrated success for the first time this season.

The game had a strong start with the score being 15-7, Hi-Liners taking the lead with ten minutes left in the first half.

At half-time, the score had grown to 32-24, HiLiners. In the first half, all but one basket made was a three-pointer. The Little-Liners played in between halves, not scoring many baskets, but scoring many smiles from the spectators.

The second half started off continued the quick pace of the game with a score of 53-34, Valley City with ten minutes left in the game.

Peyton Zaun, a Junior at Valley City High School, has been playing basketball since fourth grade, and is currently a guard on the Varsity Basketball team. During Friday’s game, Zaun made a total of eight three-point baskets, as well as two regular baskets. In total, Zaun scored twentyeigh­t points.

By the end of the game, the Broncos had seventeen turnovers compared to Valley City’s eleven. The HiLiners kept their energy high, which ultimately brought them to victory

With a final score of 64- 47, the Hi-Liner boys will continue with a great success behind them.

The boys’ Hi-Liner basketball team will face off against West Fargo Sheyenne on Tuesday, December 17th in the Hi-Liner Activity Center at 7:30 p.m..

Valley City Girls’ Basketball Celebrate Another Win

The Varsity Hi-Liner Girls participat­ed in a double-header against the Lisbon Broncos on Friday, December 13th.

The game started out with some strong defense from the HiLiners, only letting the Broncos score three points in eight minutes, compared to the Hi-Liners' thirteen, with ten minutes still left in the half.

By half-time, the HiLiners' defense wavered, the score growing to 2813 with the Hi-Liners still holding on to the lead. During the break, Senior Macy Olstad was recognized as All-State Volleyball champion. Seniors Mitchel Taylor and Riley Gerhardt were recognized as All-State football champions. The Little-Liners finished out half-time with a seven-minute four- on-four game.

Lisbon’s defense escalated in the second half, the score raising to 35-23 with Valley City still gripping the lead, ten minutes left in the game.

The Hi-Liners ultimately welcomed a victory, the final score consisting of 55-37. This is the girls’ second win of the season. .

The girls and boys play again on Tuesday, December 17, facing off against West Fargo, Sheyenne. The Varsity boys play at home in the Hi-Liner Activity Center at 7:30 p.m., while the Varsity girls travel to Sheyenne High School, to play at 7:00 p.m..
