Frueh: Little Library of Lore

-

Ok patrons we need to have a little pep talk. Every month I get a report from the State Library telling me if any patrons have accessed anything digital or online ebooks etc. I don’t know who does or does not, but you aren’t. I have not had any hits for a couple of months now. With the free access to ebooks, magazines of every kind someone should be reading something. I know you’re no longer in the fields; the cold weather is upon us with short evening sun. I get credit every time you use the internet. If you don’t have access it is very easy. All you need is a library card (free), an access code (free) and I can even help you set your account up here at the library free! What a wonderful Christmas gift to yourself!

As for our patrons who are walking in and checking out books, our children’s programs that are attended weekly thank you for your continued support. We have a lot of fun, its crazy loud with the children but I would not have it any other way. The success of these programs is what helps to keep our doors open and is a reprieve to the same old, same old. I continue to add new books and genres to the library with the help form our local organization that’s funds make this all possible. Thank you!

I also have the best board of directors to work with and city council members. They are truly supportive and continue to help in any way possible. They make my job easier and a pleasure to serve our patrons in the community.

With the New Year upon us make a resolution to entertain yourself with reading. Whether it’s with books, ebooks, magazines or newspapers; using your kindle Ipad, computer or phone. Increase your brain power, solve a crime or go on an extended well deserved trip through time. Anything can happen on a piece of paper with well-placed words.

Must Read: An Untamed Land (Red River of the North) by Lauraine Snelling

She had promised herself that once they left the fjords of Norway, she would never look back.

The promise of free land lures Roald and Ingeborg Bjorklund from their beloved home high above the fjords of Norway, and after three long years of scrimping and saving to buy tickets for their passage to America, they finally arrive at the docks of New York City. This new land promises a rich heritage for their children, and here they hope to build a good life. After a long journey by train and then by covered wagon, the Bjorklunds finally arrive in Dakota Territory, where they settle on the banks of the Red River of the North. But the virgin prairie refuses to yield its treasure without a struggle. Will Roald and Ingeborg be strong enough to overcome the hardships of that first winter?Proud of their heritage and sustained by their faith, they came to tame a new land.
