VCHS Fall Play Livestream

There’s a brand new opportunity to have dinner and a show coming up this week when Valley City High School Theater presents a livestreamed production on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Because of the current COVID situation and new guidelines from the state, in-person attendance at the annual fall play will be limited—but just because you can’t see it in person doesn’t mean you’ll miss out. In fact, it could be quite lovely to enjoy an evening of dinner and a show from home.

The students have been working hard and overcoming many different obstacles to prepare for their performances of this year’s production, which is…drum roll… a one-act adaptation of M*A*S*H. Combining elements from the popular TV series as well as the book, this comedic play dives into the adventures of the Mobil Army Surgical Hospital in

South Korea. Two of the best chest surgeons in South Korea, Hawkeye and Duke, hatch an idea to get a young Korean into a good school in the United States. The audience gets to follow these two characters in their comical journey to making it happen.

Director Melissa Kvilvang says that it’s the first one-act that has been done as the VCHS fall play. She’s pushed hard to ensure these dedicated student actors are able to perform what they’ve worked so hard to prepare, and she’s hopeful that the community will tune in one (or all) of the livestreamed performances to support them.
