VC Jr. High Choir & Band Students Host Spring Concert
Special to Times-Record Valey City’s 7th and 8th Grade Spring Music Concert was held at the Hi-Liner Activity Center on March 11th. The dazzling production featured the 7th grade band and choir, 8th grade band and choir, and the combined choirs.
To start things off, the 7th grade band played “Two Shaker Songs” arranged by Michael Story, followed by what was called a ‘slippery feature for young trombonists’ – “Trombones Rule!” by Matt Perkins. They closed their section with a performance of “Marching Down Main Street” by Ed Huckeby.
7th Grade Choir took the stage next, where they sand two great pieces, “Caro Mio Ben” and “Old Dan Tucker,” then yielding the floor to the 8th grade band students who opened with “When Summer’s In The Meadow” (setting by Randall Strandridge), followed by an adaptation of a lovely, familiar song “Danny Boy.” They continued with a Turkish tune, “Uskudar” arranged by
Robert W. Smith and finished things out with “Nottingham March” by Jerry Williams.
The 8th grade choir sang “Tell Somebody” and the lively song “Bonse Aba,” before the combined choirs joined one another for their closing song, “Hero!” VCHS students and staff would like to send out a special thanks to Penny Peterson (assistant music director, music tech, fundraising/booster coordinator and music student records) and Kyla Fetsch (Junior High music raffle fundraiser).
