Valley City Hi-Liner trap team shoots for win

The Valley City Hi-Liner Trap Shooting Team has 31 members for the 2022 season. This year's team will be one with a lot of experience. Eight seniors will lead this year's squad.

The seniors are Evan Meilke, Eric Ingstad, Trevor Breske, Kailer Logan, Conner Remick, Paige Kaber, Kaycee Smith and Morgan Jenner.

Meilke, Ingstad, Breske, Logan, Remick and Kaber lead a large contingent of returning trap shooters. Also returning are Ethan Bear, Mitchell Broadwell, Talon Larson, Nathan Suhr, Landon Martinson, Jakob Stainbrook, Levi Trader, Kaci Current, Michael Beutler, Jack Lerud, Cloe Nelson, Bodi Haglund, Connor Liebersbach and Jackson Elsen.

Trevor Hansen begins his seventh season as head coach of the Hi-Liner trap team. "Our team has high goals of winning our state competition as a team and some of our individuals being able to place in the top three in Trap and Skeet.

As well as Trap shooting, the Hi-Liners will have eight shooters compete in Skeet and nine will compete in a new discipline called 5-Stand.

In Trap Shooting, there will be 68 high school teams competing this year and teams are assigned to three classes and eleven conferences based on team size.

The Hi-Liners are Class 2A and are in a conference with Minot Bishop Ryan, Des Lacs Burlington, Enderlin, Jamestown and West Fargo Sheyenne.

In Skeet, 13 high school teams are assigned to one conference. The other schools in Skeet with Valley City are Barnes County North, Bismarck High, Bismarck Century, Bismarck Legacy, Fargo North, Mandan, Munich, Oakes, West Fargo Sheyenne, South Prairie, West Fargo and Wilton.

And in 5-Stand, eight high school teams are assigned to one conference. Along with Valley City are Barnes County North, Bismarck Legacy, Bismarck Century, Mandan, Oakes, West Fargo and Williston.
