WEEKLY ONGOING EVENTS/REMINDERS:

*St. Catherine Quilters

make quilts for those in need, meeting every Thursday from 1-4:30 p.m. and 6:30-9 p.m. in the basement gym of St. Catherine School. All are welcome, no experience necessary and supplies are provided. Questions call Christine 701-840-2580 or Lela 701845-8352.

*Valley City DMV Department and all State DMV Department­s will be upgrading our computer system May 4th-8th. Motor vehicle offices will be closed for in-person services from May 5-8. Driver license office closures will be May 6-8. Online services, including kiosks, will be unavailabl­e from May 4-8. Appointmen­ts for title work must be scheduled on dot. nd.gov or by calling our local office 701-845-3812.

* VC Transfer Station will open Saturday’s starting May 7th through October 31st from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

• Barnes County Senior Center meals and activities: Fishwich, macaroni & cheese, broccoli, chocolate cake. Pinochle 1:15 p.m.

Wed., May 11

• VCBC Public Library activities: 10 a.m. Circle Time; 10:30 a.m. Story Hour.

• Barnes County Wildlife Club meeting and burgers will be held May 11th at the Eagles Club, starting at 5 p.m.

• Disabled American Veterans meeting will be held at 7 p.m., May 11th, at Eagles Club.

• Barnes County Senior Center meals and activities: Beef roast, mashed potatoes & gravy, corn, dinner roll, fruit cocktail. Bone Builders Exercise 9:30 a.m., Whist 1:15 p.m.

• VCPS School Board Candidate Forum will be held on Wednesday, May 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the Hi-Liner Activity Center lobby. Five candidates are running for 2 seats. The event is sponsored by the Valley City Education Associatio­n.

• VCBC Public Library activities: 10:30 a.m. Next Chapter Book Club; 4:30 p.m. Teen Volunteer Council Meeting.

• Barnes County Senior Center meals and activities: French toast, bacon, diced potatoes, apple slices.

• The Monroe Doctrine Bluegrass band will perform on Thursday, May 12 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the Vault Coffee Shop and Arts Center in Valley City. Freewill donations are appreciate­d.

Fri., May 13

• Barnes County Senior Center meals and activities: Spaghetti with meatballs, garlic toast, lettuce salad, pudding. Bone Builders Exercise 9:30 a.m.; bingo 1 p.m.

• The Dist. 24 Republican­s will host a Town Hall Meeting, “Let’s talk about social issues” at the Valley City Eagles Club on Friday, May 13th from 7-8 p.m.. Free and open to the public.

Sat., May 14

• Spring Tea Party will be held at the Spring Creek Lodge and Event Center on Saturday, May 14th, 2 p.m. The lodge is located at 155 Elm Ave in Hastings, ND.

• VCBC Public Library activities: 10:30 a.m. LEGO Club.

• Barnes County Senior Center meals and activities: Chicken chow mein, chinese vegetables, rice, mandarin oranges.

• The monthly Valley City Bluegrass Jam session is scheduled for Saturday, May 14 from 1:00 - 5:00 pm at the Vault Coffee Shop and Arts Center. • Abused Persons Outreach Center will hold a spaghetti benefit from 5-7 p.m.

• Barnes County Senior Center meals and activities: Hamburger on a bun, potato wedges, baked beans, peaches. Whist 1:15 p.m.

• Valley City Public Schools will be hosting two public meetings during the month of May on Exploring the Future of School Facilities, May 16th and 23rd at 7 p.m. at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
