Glenna Henderson

Glenna Marie Henderson was born September 20, 1928, in Chicago to Amanda (Qualley) and Hans Houkom. She grew up in the Horace, ND, area and then moved to Fargo to attend Fargo High School. She loved high school and was the class poet for her class of 1946. She married David Henderson in December of 1947 and moved to rural Tower City to farm. They had five sons and one daughter.

Glenna was very involved in her community; Minnie

Lake Lutheran church, Homemaker’s

Club, and the Oriska school. She loved all kinds of people and enjoyed visiting over lunch or a piece of pie. She was a helpful neighbor and friend and always offered a listening ear. She and David were involved in Gideons

Internatio­nal, which included traveling locally and across the US for meetings and speaking opportunit­ies.

Glenna’s passion was the written word. She read extensivel­y and wrote short stories and a myriad of poetry for many different occasions. In the 70’s, she wrote an autobiogra­phy of her Christian experience which was published. She was a faithful letter writer who wrote thousands of letters to family and friends through the years. Glenna returned to college in her late 50s, earning a BA in creative writing from Moorhead State University. She loved Scrabble and was hard to beat. In her later years she especially enjoyed visiting with her grandchild­ren and hearing their perspectiv­es on life. They loved her wholeheart­ed acceptance of them and her sense of humor.

Glenna treasured her family, her many friends and her personal relationsh­ip with Christ. She passed away on November 1, 2022, at age 94, surrounded by family.

Glenna is preceded in death by her husband David, her parents, and brothers Gordon and Hubert. She is survived by her brother Rodger (Barb) Thuras, Bloomingto­n, MN, and six children: Paul Henderson, Jamestown, ND, Stanley (Marilyn) Henderson, Fort Worth, TX, Mark (Karen) Henderson, Colorado Springs,

CO, Brion (Susan) Henderson, Fargo, ND, Lee Henderson, Fargo, ND, and Jone (Glenn) Ficek, Greeley, CO, along with 16 grandchild­ren and 22 great grandchild­ren.

Funeral Service: Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 10 am in Calvary Fargo, with visitation held one hour prior to her service.

Interment: Memory Gardens, Valley City, ND. Services entrusted to West Funeral Home & Life Tribute Center, westfunera­lhome.com
