Luella Mikes
Luella Mae (Schulz) Mikes, age 76, of Abilene, Texas, peacefully passed away on November 8, 2022.
Luella was born on July 13, 1946 to Lydia (Rivinius) and William (Bill) Schulz in Elgin, North Dakota. After graduating from Valley City High School in 1964, she moved to the sunny San Diego area in California.
While in California, Luella met Raymond Lewis Mikes and they wed in 1967, going on to have 2 children, Jodie Beth and Craig Anthony,
The next several years were spent living in various parts of the U.S. as Ray was enlisted in the Navy for 20 years. They settled in Texas after his retirement in 1983. Luella worked for a number of different employers over the years but she most enjoyed her sewing projects. She spent the next several years selling her sewing creations at craft shows and making gifts for many friends and family.
Luella was predeceased by her parents Lydia (Rivinius) and William (Bill) Schulz; brothers Raymond and Norman Schulz. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Lewis Mikes; brothers Harold, James (Nancey), Gerald (Dorcas), Glen (Suzanne), and Gary (Karen) Schulz;
Sisters Lucille (James) Minson and Luann (Mark) Burggraaf; two children , Jodie Beth (Greg) Hammons and Craig Anthony Mikes; three grandsons, Jordan, Derek (Catherine), and Matthew Hammons; numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, Texas.
