Valley City community joins together to give thanks

- By Iain Woessner treditor@times-online.com

There’s a few Thanksgiving-related events happening in Valley City this weekend and next week.

A Thanksgiving Service will be held 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 20 at First Baptist Church at 3511 Kathryn Rd. S, with pastor Terry Detwiler preaching and music led by the First Baptist worship team. Anyone is invited to take part, and they are accepting donations of non-persihable foods for the food pantry and a love offering to help the ministerial team. There will be open time for sharing what people are thankful for and there’ll be coffee and cookies afterwards.

There are no community dinner events as far as we’ve been able to tell happening in Valley City, but Budget Burger will be bringing back its drivethrough Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, November 24. It will be all homemade cooking, noth

ing pre-prepared and the menu will include turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing and a pumpkin bar.

Tammy Drake said that she’d initially started the drive-through dinner during COVID but has brought it back due to popular demand – and demand is popular, so she warned that it’s first-come, first-serve. “Last year I sold out by noon,” Drake said.

Budget Burger is located at 951 W. Main Street in Valley City.

Words of advice - be sure to call ahead if you are planning on dining out for the Thanksgiving holiday, November 24.
