Heinrich sentenced to life in prison for child molestation charges
Jeremy Wayne Heinrich was sentenced on Wednesday for crimes of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and two counts of Promoting Obscenity to Minors. He will serve a life sentence without the possibility of parole in the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Center.
Sheriff Randy McClaflin said that after a lengthy investigation conducted by his deputies and the Buffalo Bridges Social Services it was determined that Heinrich had “forced his victim to engage in acts that a child should never have to go through.”
Heinrich was arrested in March, according to a press release issued by the Sheriff’s office, and he requested a jury trial. He was convicted on all charges in August. Barnes County States Attorney Tonya Duffy addressed the court during Heinrich’s sentencing hearing. She said that the victim in this case is a survivor who had the courage to stand up for herself. Duffy said there is never justification for this type of behavior, and this type of criminal behavior is so serious that the State Legislature made it the highest-level offense in the state, giving the courts the ability to prevent any more childhoods from being taken away from children.
