Young Hi-Liners gain experience at Lisbon Tourney
The Valley City Hi-Liners sent wrestlers to Lisbon this past weekend to compete in the Lisbon JV/JH/Girls wrestling tournament. The Hi-Liners fared well on Saturday with three champions and 13 placing in the top four in their group.
On the girls side, Mylee Christianson was 3-0 and took home first place in her group. Christianson, a ninth grader, wrestles at 135. Brooke Bundy, a junior, was 4-1 and was second at 190. Kendra Green, a senior, was 1-1 and took second at 170. Deegan Kirschenmann, a freshman, was 1-2 and took third at 130. And Josie Legge, also a ninth grader, was 0-3 and finished fourth at 105.
For the Junior Varsity, Corbyn Powell, a ninth grader, was 3-0 and took first at 160. Brody Stockert, a ninth grader, was 1-2 and took third at 138. Cardar Jewett, a junior, was 1-2 and finished third at 182. Ryer Muske, a ninth grader, was 1-2 and took third at 160. Muske and Powell were placed in different groups as wrestlers were broken down into groups for the tourney with four wrestlers in each group. Quincy Corbin, a sophomore, was 0-3 and finished fourth at 138. Khruz Kappenman, a ninth grader, was 0-3 and finished fourth at 132.
The junior high wrestlers placed six in the top three. Hunter Undem, an eighth grader, was 3-0 and took first at 145. Chase Coghlan, a seventh grader, was 2-1 and was second at 106. Leighton Hendrickson, a seventh grader, was 0-2 and placed third in his group at 160. Tyson Klabo, an eighth grader, was 2-1 and was second at 120. Jayden Mascarenas-Malan, an eighth grader, was 2-1 and placed second at 145. Andon Bulow, an eighth grader, was 0-2 and finished third at 195.
