Country Focus: A glorious week of weather in North Dakota

What a glorious week of weather! Too bad the whole winter season couldn’t be this enjoyable so I am very thankful for it.

I enjoy Thanksgiving since it’s a holiday centered around food and being grateful. I have actually cooked a Thanksgiving meal believe it or not.

The menu is simple. Just make sure the turkey isn’t dry and the mashed potatoes aren’t lumpy. I’m pretty blessed to have a mother who is an outstanding cook so I just bring the wine and enjoy the feast. Turkey, mashed potatoes, homemade stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberries, a vegetable side dish, pie and my favorite…lefse! After dinner, the turkey coma kicks in during the football game and then it’s time for a nap. Wake up for more food and then time to go home. I have only shopped on Black Friday in Fargo once. I’m too impatient to deal with the crowds and the traffic.
