Merry and very, very bright

Mayor Dave Carlsrud caused some sparks to fly on Friday evening, braving a cold and dark winter’s night to illuminate the Christmas Trees in Veteran’s Park. A gathering of community members of all ages joined him, and appropriate thanks was given to the hard working members of the city’s electrical workforce for setting up the lights and the rather impressive switch to light them.

With all due caution, Mayor Dave pulled the switch and with a spark and a flash, Christmas season officially began in the Valley, with all the park, its trees, and military monuments, lit up merry -- and bright.
