VCHS Junior High Students complete huge fundraiser

- By Tami Olsen VCTR Correspondent

This past week, the 7th and 8th graders at VCHS did a friendly competition to help get donations for their schools Hi-Liner Pantry. The pantry provides food and supplies to students and families within the district that need extra assistance. Throughout the year, students will hold donation drives to help keep the pantry stocked.

Both the 7th and 8th grade classes donated over 2,300 items total. Since it was a competition, the 8th grade ended up coming away with the win. Their prize for collecting the most items was a trip to the Valley City Bowling Alley. 8th grade students were able to spend their afternoon before Thanksgiving break enjoying good food and some rounds of bowling.

With any competition, when there is a winner, there is also someone that has to lose. As the 7th graders were defeated, as a result 7th grade English teacher, Kyle Roelfsema had to dye his beard pink. Roelfsema was a good sport like always and can now be seen roaming the halls with a bright pink beard.
