Elroy Schlaht
Elroy Wilmer Schlaht, 90, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at CHI Mercy Hospital in Valley City ND.
Elroy was born in Cleveland North Dakota to George and Rosina (Burkhardt) Schlaht on September 22, 1932. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from
Cleveland High School.
H e worked on the family farm until he married Elaine (Haugland) Schlaht in May 1957, at Sigdal Lutheran Church in Tolna, ND. He
worked a variety of jobs before starting his career as a butcher in Valley City, ND followed by several moves to other stores within ND and Minnesota.
Elroy was a Christian man, dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who valued his family. Elroy enjoyed working in the yard, working on various cars, and spending
time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elaine; his children: Judy Smith; Valley City, Ron Schlaht; Arizona, Jacque Harder; Fargo, Roger Schlaht; Grandin, Dan Schlaht; West Fargo, Dave Schlaht; West Fargo; and his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Ben (Jessie Huisinga) Denver, CO, Krystal
(Mark) Henning, Harper, Stella, Boden, Broomfield CO; William Smith, Riley and Weston; Valley City; Shantell Schlaht (NIco Navarro) and NJ, Fargo.; Macy Schlaht Valley City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and others who called him dad.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings.
The memorial service will be 1:30 pm Wednesday, November 30 at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
