Pairings set for Barnes County Girls Basketball Tournament, December 6, 8 and 9

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The 2022 Barnes County Girls Basketball Tournament returns to Valley City State University’s W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse in early December.

Six area high school basketball teams will converge in Valley City on Dec. 6, 8 and 9 as they vie for the 2022 tournament championship. LaMoure/ Litchville-Marion has won the past six tournament titles and headlines this year’s field of teams. They’ll be joined by Maple River, Wyndmere-Lidgerwood, Richland, Enderlin and Barnes County North.

All matchups on Dec. 6 and Dec. 8 are pre-determined by coaches’ rankings and will begin at 4:30 p.m. both days. Team records after the first two days of the tournament will determine who plays for first place, third place and fifth place on Dec. 9.

Major tournament sponsors include Valley City State University, VCSU Athletics, the Valley City Chamber of Commerce and the Valley City Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The Barnes County Boys Tournament is scheduled for Jan. 3, 5 and 6 and will be an 8-team bracket tournament on the campus of VCSU.

Thursday, Dec. 8

4:30 p.m. – Richland vs. Barnes County North

6:00 p.m. – Maple River vs. Wyndmere-Lidgerwood

7:30 p.m. – LaMoure/Litchville-Marion vs. Enderlin

Friday, Dec. 9

4:30 p.m. – 5th place (5th and 6th best records play)

6:00 p.m. – 3rd place (3rd and 4th best records play)

7:30 p.m. – Championship (Top 2 records play each other)*
