Christmas At Homewood

- By Chelsey Schaefer VCTR Correspondent

Snow blanketing the ground, icicles hanging off the eaves and smoke rising from the chimney… it's getting closer to Christmas in our valley of the Sheyenne and it sure looks like the season for giving.

Inside, stockings are hung on the mantle and Christmas presents lined up next to them, since a certain small person at our house thinks it's great fun to tear off the wrapping paper.

But the real reason for the season and the biggest gift we can open our hearts to receive is the birth of Jesus.

Christmas at the Hager Homewood Barn usually follows the birth of Jesus as told in the Bible. The telling of Mary and Joseph's journey is intermixed with hymns and other songs of the season, often as a singalong.

I haven't met anyone yet that doesn't like singing Christmas songs in a big, enthusiastic groupand the crowd at Homewood is always that.

Do you love Christmas in the country, with its unbroken white carpet and frosted treetops; the lovely, reverent silence that falls with the velvety blackness of night?

Or maybe you just love Christmas and singing Christmas songs?

Then Homewood is the perfect place to go, and bring a friend, relative, spouse, or child.

Not only will Homewood's Christmas event include the typical songs and hymns, but it will also feature several of our musical Hager family themselves, alongside other local musicians: Cassie Boelke, the Fogderud sisters, the Maasjo sisters, Clyde Baumann, and Tim & SueAnn Berntson.

The Christmas at Homewood singing and service will be followed by refreshments in the downstairs of the barn.

The service will be held upstairs, but for those unable to do stairs, a CCTV will play the singing live downstairs.

The address is 11145 40th St SE, Valley City, ND 58072.

Let's welcome the season warmly and with joyful singing of the reason for the season on Saturday, December 3rd at the Hager’s Homewood Barn Christmas event. See you all at 2

pm.

Christmas at Homewood is always a wonderful way to ring in the season and warm our hearts.
